Customer states that 498 errors mean MX server is currently unreachable. For example, it's rebooting. Or there is a temporary Internet outage on MX server side. Or there are network problems on MailGun side, like it was in this case (I didn't see any reports about GMail outage in news). All those problems usually resolve themselves. That's why you should reattempt delivery for this error.
