  1. Error, fail, bounce and reply mails back to sender (application)

Bounce mails dont came back to senders e-mail account, tracking is impossible without API. Routed e-mails need reply information, feature will make Mailgun perfect.

  2. Stats for multiple domains

We run a lot of domains (for inbound forwarding) and want to gather daily stats. The only way to do this is to make multiple API calls , 900+ each time. Can we get stats for multiple/all domains at once?

  3. Hi MailGun Team. I suggest you create a new function to let customer can limit the email send out for each domain monthly. Thanks!

  4. Allow rotation of DKIM keys

I would like the ability to rotate the DKIM key used by mailgun for my domain on a periodic basis. The only option I was given by mailgun support is to delete my domain and start over. Rotating the key is important to mitigate the effects when keys are compromised.

  5. Monitor delivery rates by recipient domain (ESP)

While some of the existing charts/reports on the dashboard are useful, I would really like to know about delivery rates / failures by the domain we are sending to (or ideally ESP... i.e. hotmail/msn centurytel/centurylink/embarmail).

I usually end up hearing about a block or other delivery issue from our users. Short of pulling data over the API and parsing it myself I know of no way to accomplish monitoring this currently.

  6. Please support DMARC on Mailgun and make it easy to deploy

-Please support DMARC on mailgun, and make it easy to deploy.
    - Generate useful TXT entries (just like you already do for SPF and DKIM)
    - Handle the DMARC reports
    - Present DMARC reports in your control panel after decoding the ZIPed XML files the providers send.
    - Convert DMARC failures (and successes?) into web hooks, events and log entries.

  7. Increase the max retry time (of soft bounces at least)

In case of soft bounce it can be expected that email should go through. The current maximum retry time of 8 hours is too short if there is lots of email sent. Retry time doesn't scale well in case if most email sending is done during the office hours. Morning emails might be dropped before the less trafic nightly hours. Below is an ESP throttling response from Hotmail

ESP throttling: X → Y 'Z' Server response: 421 421 RP-001 (BAY004-MC2F19) Unfortunately, some messages from IP weren't sent. Please try again. We have limits for how many messages can be sent…

  8. Decrease retry interval for Mailgun server errors

When an email is not sent due to a Mailgun server error (e.g. 499 MX server resolution error), the retry should be much shorter than 10 minutes. Errors that are very likely transient (such as DNS resolution of a Gmail server), should be retried immediately and any error not resulting from a rate-limit should use a geometrically increasing retry interval, rather than the 10-10-15-30... interval progression.

  9. If an unauthorized sender sends to a mailing list, send that person a bounce email, rather than silently discarding it

You do this when the access level for a mailing list is set to "read-only" but you do not do this if it is set to "members". You should always send the bounce / non-delivery notification if the sender was not allowed to send to the list.

  10. Accept event webhook

Add webhook support for "Accepted" events so that we can track queue times before delivery.

  12. Add ability to control which fields are sent when using Routes, and then allow the inbound message to be forwarded from Mailgun servers...

Usecase for this is: I'm using Routes to receive inbound mail to a certain domain. And I want to write some code to make decisions on whether to forward that inbound mail on to another email inbox or maybe just discard it. Currently, my only choice to implement a system like this is to have the entire email, with attachments, posted to my web hook, and then I pull out every part of the mail, plus attachments (storing them locally), and if I want to forward on the email, I have to reassemble the message, (with attachments :)) and then…

  13. provide the option to notify an email address when certain mailgun actions have occurred (bounces, suppressions etc)

Would be great if this could be simple but configurable - or if we could opt to have summary reports at the end of a day/week/month of bounces, suppressions etc. Thanks

  14. Allow a setting to add unsubscribe links depending on the type of email (direct / mailing list)

Currently there is no way to configure your domain to conditionally add an unsubscribe link based on the type of email sent. If I choose to automatically add the mailing list unsubscribe link then it gets added to ALL emails from the domain name, even the ones which have nothing to do with my mailing list (e.g. verification emails, password reset, newsletters etc.). Except, in such emails instead of the link i get "%mailinglistunsubscribe_url%" rather than the actual link.

It would be great if you could configure custom unsubscribe templates for different email addresses. E.g. maillist@mydomain.com would have…

  15. Suppressions listed in logs

It would be better to mark re-try of delivering Suppressed messages as Warning rather then Error.
this event already cased Error event and was "resolved" by adding email address to Suppression list, 2nd time it should be just a Warning in my opinion.

  16. View in browser like mailchimp

There should be a feature emails to contain the "view in browser" feature.

  17. Forwarding of auto-responses sent to the return-path

Delayed bounce messages sent to the return path are correctly processed by Mailgun (if the MX records are set).

But other kind of messages sent the return path address, like vacation or out of office auto-responses are simply ignored and dropped.

It would be great to be notified when an auto-response is sent to the return path address, by forwarding and/or using a webhook.

  18. Provide option to send Non-Delivery Reports to the original Sender

Mailgun bounce processing works great when a single sender is sending email to a broad audience. It does not work well when there are many original senders each with their own list of contacts.

    Scenario:
    - Company with 10 to 1000 employees.
    - Company switches from a traditional in-house mail solution to Mailgun for all outgoing email.
    - John, a typical employee in the organization, sends email to a customer, but spells the address wrong.

    Traditional in-house system behaviour:
    - John would get a Non-Delivery Report letting him know of his mistake. John would fix his mistake, and re-send the…

  19. Notify account holder when reaching max routes limit

The maximum limit for routes is 5,000. Currently Mailgun does not notify you when you're close to the limit. This is especially risky if you create lots of routes programmatically via the Routes API.

  20. Allow sending text/calendar as a multipart/alternative format so Outlook can accept my invites

We've been sending ics files as attachments, but the only way that Outlook will recognize them as calendar events is if you send it as a multipart/alternative. The Mailgun API only supports text or html, which means I have to build a MIME email to send it.
