  1. Monitor delivery rates by recipient domain (ESP)

While some of the existing charts/reports on the dashboard are useful, I would really like to know about delivery rates / failures by the domain we are sending to (or ideally ESP... i.e. hotmail/msn centurytel/centurylink/embarmail).

I usually end up hearing about a block or other delivery issue from our users. Short of pulling data over the API and parsing it myself I know of no way to accomplish monitoring this currently.

  2. Please support DMARC on Mailgun and make it easy to deploy

-Please support DMARC on mailgun, and make it easy to deploy.
    - Generate useful TXT entries (just like you already do for SPF and DKIM)
    - Handle the DMARC reports
    - Present DMARC reports in your control panel after decoding the ZIPed XML files the providers send.
    - Convert DMARC failures (and successes?) into web hooks, events and log entries.

  3. Add ability to control which fields are sent when using Routes, and then allow the inbound message to be forwarded from Mailgun servers...

Usecase for this is: I'm using Routes to receive inbound mail to a certain domain. And I want to write some code to make decisions on whether to forward that inbound mail on to another email inbox or maybe just discard it. Currently, my only choice to implement a system like this is to have the entire email, with attachments, posted to my web hook, and then I pull out every part of the mail, plus attachments (storing them locally), and if I want to forward on the email, I have to reassemble the message, (with attachments :)) and then…

  4. View in browser like mailchimp

There should be a feature emails to contain the "view in browser" feature.

  5. Notify account holder when reaching max routes limit

The maximum limit for routes is 5,000. Currently Mailgun does not notify you when you're close to the limit. This is especially risky if you create lots of routes programmatically via the Routes API.

  6. Set up a way to archive outgoing emails.

We send a lot of emails that are custom to the individual and would like a simple way to save them. Our email generators are on 20 or so amazon instances and we spin up and shut them down as needed. So we have 3 options: save the file and hope to dl before the box dies, send bcc to a stable box, or post to a webhook on a stable box.

  8. Provide a "Spam Probability" API

There should be an endpoint where you can submit the MIME of a message and get a spam probability score to determine deliverability.

  9. Add admin users free for limited time

Problem: Your free-level customers who need help from a third-party tech shouldn't have to choose between paying to add a user or turning off 2FA.

Backstory: My host detected a setup problem and and asked me for admin access, but your feature to add users is behind your paywall. That meant I had to either pay for a user that wouldn't need long-term access or temporarily turn off my two-step verification. The later was the obvious-but-disturbing choice, and I considered quitting Mailgun over it.

Proposed solution: Enable the add-user feature for base-level accounts for one extra admin user only, and…

  12. Provide dashboard access email validation logs

Having the ability to view or download a date range of the email validation logs would in debugging and identifying abuse of the service. Currently I have to request from your support team every time I need them and the logs entries are not formatted with date/time stamps.

  13. Ability to assign tags based on pattern-matching rules

Currently, tage may be assigned to a message via the HTTP API or by specifying an X-Mailgun-Tag x-header when using the SMTP API. This is all well and good if your application allows you to change the SMTP headers, but if you do not have that ability, then no tag can be assigned.

Example: We have ERP software that generates system notifications, send invoices, statements, confirmations, purchase orders, etc. The only setting I have the ability to change is the SMTP server & credentials, as well as set the subject/body (and to, obviously) based on the message. I do not…

  14. Apply substitutions to BCC of Bulk Email

When doing Bulk Email with recipient variable substitutions, those substitutions are not applied to what is sent to the BCC address(es), so instead of getting a copy of what was actually sent to each of the normal recipients, the BCC is just the template.

I can imagine a variety of reasons why this might happen, but cannot come up with a reason why anyone would want it to work this way.

  15. Easy Forward User to User Emails with masked Email Adresses

Some Apps allow User to User communication via Email (example LinkedIn). These App creates virtual Email Addresses to hide the original Email Address, either for the purpose of privacy or for intersecting the communication via store() or forward() routes, either to save the conversation in the system or simply to forward the email to the real address.

Where this works great for Emails without attachments, we could save some expensive roundtrips with emails that have attachments.
In that case all attachments have to be downloaded first to the App Server and then send to mailgun again, although mailgun has these…

  16. Have log of JSON for email validation.

It would be nice to have the JSON returned for email validation stored in a log file so I can grab it (again) if something happens to my query. This wouldn't be such a big deal but since there are cost involved in each call, it would be great having a backup.

  17. Provide view only accounts

We identified a clear need to set up some view only accounts for our developers to enable them to interrogate data and review potential issues in Mailgun.

  18. Offer servers/IPs in locations other than the U.S.

For various privacy/legal reasons it would be good to have servers in non U.S. regions/zones. (Kind of like what AWS does.)

  19. Ability to create a "Never Suppress" list

Create the ability to have a list of email addresses that MailGun will continue to attempt delivery too, even if it receives a bounceback. This is a compliance feature that will ensure delivery to an archival address. (SendGrid currently has a Never Suppress list.)

  20. Searching of logs in the dashboard should support gmail style searching e.g. to:name@domain.com

It would be useful to search for terms in specific field explicitly. At the moment searching for an email address will match on From as well as To fields.
Gmail supports search terms of the form "to:name@domain.com" or "from:name@domain.com"
